Absolute Beginners Jive Courses

Come on your own, with a partner or with friends and learn to dance to swingin' jazz, jumpin' blues and wild rock'n'roll tunes.

10 Week Absolute Beginners Jive Courses - What to expect:

The first night offers a Free Trial class so you can book a space and come along to try before committing yourself. On the trial we start with basics of how to stand and hold your partner, then we teach some simple moves using step-by-step guidance. Each session lasts for one hour including practice time. At the end of the session you can sign up for the full course.

Through the rest of term you will continue to learn moves taught at a steady pace by our friendly and helpful teachers. Everyone joining the beginners course is a complete beginner so even if you have two left feet, don't worry! Our teachers are there to help and guide you.

What to wear:

Make sure that you wear loose, comfortable clothing that is easy to move around in. Standard street shoes are fine at the beginners level, preferrably with a flat sole and not too grippy. Once you have got into the swing we recommend Bleyer dance shoes, which are designed for swing dancers and look really cool. They are available from our merchandising site www.swinggear.co.uk

What to bring:

We recommend that you bring: a sensible pair of shoes, bottle of water, a partner (if you can find one!) or anyone else you can encourage to come!

Class details:

Details of the May '10 term classes will follow. Each venue will also have a map to help you find it.

How to Pay

The first class is a free trial so if it isn't right for you there is no cost. However, in general almost everybody who takes the try out class joins up for the course. The full price is £70 per person, but there is a £10 per person discount if you pay on the night. By cheque or cash in the class. or online by credit card!

The Beginners course is just the start of your adventure. Intermediates and Intermediates Plus courses continue where the beginners course ends.
