So...Led Zeppelin eh? Well, for a start Rock n Roll isn't on album II it's on album IV!!! And I'm only 16 and have been head banging to classic rock for several years now! And I bet I'm more of a whipper-snapper than Ollie! :roll
And Status Quo...really you have no taste! Although a couple of Friday's back when you brought your rock cd in DJ Simon I was quite impressed - I thought - yipee! A change of music - and decent music at that! Maybe not, then... |

That's good that there is more rocker's than just me - I was starting to get a bit worried!
And I'm sorry for the whipper-snapper remark! I guess you are still classed as a whipper-snapper at 20 years old! Rock On Ollie! |

now then, being serious to dance to, a bit of Michael Buble has to be included in any self respecting playlist and to balance that with some older tunes, how about as a wild card "Sheena is a Punk Rocker" The Ramones.
Now before you write it off, relisten to it and imagine it at Swing easy. Then again, classic, Darts and "Come back my Love" . If youve forgotten try this link!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myvRlJOxbJ0 |

Good to see people suggesting new music. Don't forget, you can always make requests at Swingeasy or other dances. It can be for favourite tracks you know we've got or anything you'd just like to hear.

have not been able to attend swingeasy much since xmas due to work commitments, but have managed to get to the last 2 on tuesday nights in Fareham.
Always good to get dancing and practice again. What i did notice was a lot of the same songs being played, and i really would like to hear some new songs. This weeks swingeasy (6th april) did have some different tracks which was great, but to be a bit controversial, some of the tracks that are played are the ones that were used every week when we were initially attending lessons at beginners and intermediates. These remind me of doing all those moves over and over, so i must admit, I do think oh no, not that one! Now i know someone will say ok, what do you want, well the problem is music is always a personal choice, so everyone will have their personal view. The thing is, I have a terrible memory for names of tracks. I stick the cd in the player and listen but never read album cover. I have suggested Michael Buble, Ramones, Darts and there could be a fw more modern tracks that could go really well. There is a guy called Graham Parker and the Rumour that some of his tracks could also be good to dance to.(although hes not so modern) Dont get me wrong, i really love the vast majority of tracks played but a bit of a change now and again has to be welcome. How about starting to play tracks from bands that have been booked for upcoming dances? This creates interest, new songs and can promote the event even more to encourage more attendees? Again, just ideas and trying to restart debate on music from all as this is a great opportunity to talk about the biggest thing we have,,, the music. Best regards Mike and Marlene |

Hi Mike and Marlene,
I help out at the Farnham swingeasy on Thursdays and try to bring one new track to play each week to add some variation, but it seems that the majority of people seem to prefer the regular songs which they are used to dancing to as anything new often clears the floor.... but maybe it's just my taste in music New songs played so far if you want to check them out are: Plan B - She Said Eliza Dolittle - Pack Up Mighty Mighty Bosstones - The Impression that I get Anyone coming to the Farnham swingeasy please message me or speak to me at the venue with any songs you'd like me to bring along as the 'new song of the week' Christine |
